A celebration of simplicity enhanced by thoughtful attention to detail, this handspun white shawl is simple yet eye-catching. It embodies the unadulterated beauty of skilled handiwork and is woven in pure, natural tones. Its modest black and blue hem details, which frame the edges with understated sophistication, are what really set it apart. The shawl’s feathery-soft texture drapes beautifully, making it suitable for year-round wear – light enough for breezy evenings yet warm enough for crisp mornings. Its delicate hem provides just the right amount of contemporary charm, while its simple design exudes classic beauty. The shawl is versatile, and blends well with both traditional and modern outfits, capturing the balance between traditional weaving and contemporary design.

About the Craft
The art of Pashmina making involves a series of meticulous steps. It all starts in Ladakh where the down fibre of the changthangi goat is collected, cleaned, and sorted. The fibre is then hand spun by womenfolk of the valley - which is the most painstaking labour of love. To spin fibre for one Pashmina shawl, a single artisan takes atleast 3 months, with just a handful of fibre spun per day. Even this takes them 8-10 hours everyday. Spinning is followed by weaving, where men mount the delicate spun fibre onto wooden handlooms and create heavenly soft and lightweight Pashmina shawls. These are later handed over to specialists for further embellishing like dyeing, embroidery, or prints

Pashmina Care
Always dry clean your pure Pashmina for the safest care. But if hand washing, use cold water and Pashmina/Cashmere shampoo. Do not wring or twist. Always squeeze the water out gently. Dry your Pashmina by placing it between two clean towels and rolling them together. Air dry, do not hang. Do not place it under direct sunlight for drying.
Store your Pashmina at a clean, dry place. To keep it safe from moths, fold it neatly, wrap it in a muslin cloth, and store it with neem or cedar. Pashmina will last for generations if handled with care.

Before you receive your Pashmina, Please Note:
Authentic Pashmina is woven and embroidered by artisans manually. There can be irregularities in weave or embroidery showing the meticulous manual work of artisans. Note that these are not flaws but marks of authenticity that make your piece truly one of a kind
Slight variations in colour may appear due to different screen resolutions. While we strive to present images as true to life as possible, the actual shade may look slightly different on your device. We appreciate your understanding

G.I. Certified Handspun Pashmina: Why It Is More Expensive than Regular Pure Pashmina

Pashmina has for long been cherished and celebrated as the pinnacle of luxury. It is a fabric, so fine, warm and timeless that even the highest of royalty adorned it for centuries. But among all the forms nature blesses our wardrobes with, Handspun Pashmina stands apart as the purest, most authentic. Before modern machinery took over, the threads were spun exclusively with bare hands, slowly, delicately, with a deep emotional connection between the artisans and the fibre. Today, just a small percentage of artisans follow this ancient method, making handspun pieces incredibly rare and precious. Yet there are a few dealers of handspun shawls, like Pashmsutra, which sells 100% pure, hand spun shawls online......
