Description

Creating a palette that is both uplifting and grounding, this handwoven Pashmina stole feels warm and calming. The peach and grey gradient allows versatile styling. Drape with the peach side forward for warmth or show the grey side for understated elegance. This stole enhances all outfits and complements every temperament.

Handwoven by meticulous local artisans, it is dyed in a gradual ombre wash and finished with delicate fringes, combining traditional craftsmanship with modern flair.

About the Craft

Ombre dyeing is a delicate artistic process where pure Pashmina is hand-dyed in a gradient of multiple colours. The smooth transition between peach and grey is achieved through careful immersion and hand-dipping techniques, creating the ombre effect without harsh lines.

Unlike machine dyeing, the ombre effect is achieved manually, with artisans controlling saturation, depth, and balance by hand. Pashmina’s natural softness allows dyes to absorb elegantly, producing a luxurious piece that is both fashion and art. Every stole is slightly unique, reflecting the artisan’s creative touch.

The Pashmina-making process begins in Ladakh with the collection, cleaning, and sorting of the Changthangi goat down fibre. Women hand-spin the fibre, a labor-intensive process taking 8 to 10 hours daily for up to 2 months for a single stole. Men then weave the spun fibre on wooden handlooms to create lightweight, soft Pashmina stoles, which are later enhanced with dyeing, embroidery, or prints.

Pashmina Care

Always dry clean for safest care. For hand washing, use cold water with Pashmina or Cashmere shampoo. Do not wring or twist. Gently squeeze out water. Dry by rolling between two clean towels, air dry, and avoid direct sunlight. Store in a clean, dry place. Fold neatly, wrap in muslin, and store with neem or cedar to prevent moths. With proper care, Pashmina lasts for generations.

Before You Receive Your Pashmina, Please Note:

Authentic Pashmina is manually woven and embroidered by artisans. Irregularities in weave or embroidery reflect the meticulous handwork and are not flaws but marks of authenticity. Slight variations in colour may appear due to screen differences. The actual shade may differ slightly.
