Description

Making the stole a timeless beauty, the artisan has created a gradient between soft and warm peach shades that blend into each other for a rustic effect. The stole goes through traditional dyeing techniques, where the blending of shades is achieved manually. This slow process ensures the perfect balance of hues without losing the natural charm of traditional shawl making. An heirloom of heritage and a celebration of mindful fashion, this stole strikes a balance between culture and modernity, ideal for women and men of all ages and temperaments.

About the Craft

Ombre dyeing is a delicate artistic process where pure Pashmina is hand-dyed in a gradient of multiple colours. The smooth transition between shades is achieved through careful immersion and hand-dipping techniques. Each step is performed precisely to create a seamless merge without harsh lines.

Unlike machine dyeing, the ombre effect is produced manually by skilled artisans who regulate saturation, depth, and balance by hand. Pashmina’s natural softness allows dyes to absorb elegantly, producing a luxurious piece that is both fashion and art. Every stole is slightly unique, reflecting the artisan’s creative touch.

The Pashmina-making process begins in Ladakh, where the down fibre of the Changthangi goat is collected, cleaned, and sorted. Women hand-spin the fibre, a labor-intensive process taking 8 to 10 hours daily for up to 2 months for a single stole. Men then weave the spun fibre on wooden handlooms to create soft, lightweight Pashmina stoles, which are later enhanced with dyeing, embroidery, or prints.

Pashmina Care

Always dry clean for safest care. For hand washing, use cold water with Pashmina or Cashmere shampoo. Do not wring or twist. Gently squeeze water out. Dry by rolling between two clean towels, air dry, and avoid direct sunlight. Store in a clean, dry place. Fold neatly, wrap in muslin, and store with neem or cedar to prevent moths. With proper care, Pashmina lasts for generations.

Before You Receive Your Pashmina, Please Note:

Authentic Pashmina is woven and embroidered manually by artisans. Irregularities in weave or embroidery reflect meticulous handwork and are not flaws but marks of authenticity. Slight variations in colour may appear due to screen differences. The actual shade may differ slightly.
