Description
A handwoven Pashmina stole speaks volumes of depth, mystery, and timeless elegance. The rich purple shade has been achieved through professional, manual hand-dyeing, that preserves the natural softness of the fabric. Luxuriously warm yet feathery light, this stole is perfect for evenings when the air turns crisp. Handwoven from the finest Ladakhi Pashmina fibres, the stole is a true treasure of sustainable luxury, a legacy of tradition, elegance, and artisanal mastery.
About the Craft
Every inch of this pure Pashmina stole tells a tale of perseverance and tradition. In order to maintain depth, vibrancy, and authenticity, the traditional dying method is used to create the solid color in small batches. In contrast to commercial techniques, Pashmina dyeing by hand necessitates deft handling, numerous rinses, and hours of meticulous drying to preserve the fabric's softness and inherent sheen. This is more than simply a stole; it is a piece of sustainable fashion woven with devotion, with each tint and thread celebrating Kashmiri artistry.
The art of Pashmina making involves a series of meticulous steps. It all starts in Ladakh where the down fibre of the changthangi goat is collected, cleaned, and sorted. The fibre is then hand spun by womenfolk of the valley - which is the most painstaking labour of love. To spin fibre for one Pashmina stole, a single artisan takes atleast 2 months, with just a handful of fibre spun per day. Even this takes them 8-10 hours everyday. Spinning is followed by weaving, where men mount the delicate spun fibre onto wooden handlooms and create heavenly soft and lightweight Pashmina stoles. These are later handed over to specialists for further embellishing like dyeing, embroidery, or prints
Pashmina Care
Always dry clean your pure Pashmina for the safest care. But if hand washing, use cold water and Pashmina/Cashmere shampoo. Do not wring or twist. Always squeeze the water out gently. Dry your Pashmina by placing it between two clean towels and rolling them together. Air dry, do not hang. Do not place it under direct sunlight for drying.
Store your Pashmina at a clean, dry place. To keep it safe from moths, fold it neatly, wrap it in a muslin cloth, and store it with neem or cedar. Pashmina will last for generations if handled with care.
Before you receive your Pashmina, Please Note:
Authentic Pashmina is woven and embroidered by artisans manually. There can be irregularities in weave or embroidery showing the meticulous manual work of artisans. Note that these are not flaws but marks of authenticity that make your piece truly one of a kind
Slight variations in colour may appear due to different screen resolutions. While we strive to present images as true to life as possible, the actual shade may look slightly different on your device. We appreciate your understanding.
