Description:

Innocence and vibrance meet in this ivory Kani Pashmina stole, draping with timeless grace. Intricate floral motifs in violet, pink, green, and gold are beautifully offset by bold handwoven stripes of scarlet, aqua, and cobalt blue against a serene ivory base. The lively palla design creates a striking contrast with the subtle backdrop, making this stole an ideal accessory to brighten both day and evening ensembles. Warm yet featherlight, it carries an aura of sophistication paired with a carefree spirit. Woven with the age-old Kani technique, where artisans interlace threads using slender wooden sticks called kanis, this stole is a celebration of conscious, slow fashion and centuries of Kashmiri artistry.

About the Craft

Kani weaving is a traditional tapestry-style technique from Kashmir, famed for its complexity and heritage. It is used to create intricate handwoven patterns on fine Pashmina fabric, often depicting Mughal-inspired gardens, paisleys, and florals. The word "kani" refers to the small, eyeless wooden sticks that replace the shuttle in weaving, each holding a different coloured thread. The weaver interlaces these threads with precision, guided by a coded design script known as talim, similar to reading musical notation. This process is both highly laborious and intellectually demanding, requiring immense patience and skill. Depending on the design’s intricacy, a single Kani stole or shawl can take several months to over a year to complete.

Pashmina Care

Always dry clean your pure Pashmina for the safest care. If hand washing, use cold water and Pashmina/Cashmere shampoo. Do not wring or twist; press water out gently. Roll between two clean towels to absorb moisture and air dry flat, away from sunlight.

Store your Pashmina in a clean, dry place. Fold neatly, wrap in a muslin cloth, and store with neem or cedar to protect from moths. With proper care, your Pashmina will last for generations.

Before you receive your Pashmina, Please Note:

Authentic Pashmina is woven and embroidered manually by artisans. Slight irregularities in weave or pattern are natural signs of handcraft, not flaws. These unique details make your piece truly one of a kind.

Slight variations in colour may appear due to different screen resolutions. While we strive to present images as true to life as possible, the actual shade may differ slightly on your device.
