Description
A canvas of pure elegance, this ivory stole is handpicked from the finest pieces in Kashmir and adorned with delicate Sozni embroidery in a soothing shade of blue. The stole features a net (jaal) pattern with intricate vines and floral motifs handwoven across the fabric, reflecting timeless artistry. The subtle contrast between serene ivory and soft blue threads lends a dreamy charm, perfect for those who appreciate understated beauty.
About the Craft
Sozni embroidery is a fine needlework originating in Kashmir, characterized by detailed floral, abstract, or geometric motifs. Each piece is manually embroidered by skilled artisans using thin needles and fine threads. The process is meticulous; embroidering an inch-thick border of a Pashmina shawl can take up to four months. Designs are first stamped onto the shawl and then carefully embroidered with thoughtfully chosen color combinations.
The Pashmina-making process begins in Ladakh, where the down fibre of the Changthangi goat is collected, cleaned, and sorted. Women hand-spin the fibre, a labor-intensive process taking 8 to 10 hours daily for up to 2 months for a single stole. Men weave the spun fibre on wooden handlooms to create soft, lightweight Pashmina stoles, which are then enhanced with dyeing, embroidery, or prints.
Pashmina Care
Always dry clean for safest care. For hand washing, use cold water with Pashmina or Cashmere shampoo. Do not wring or twist. Gently squeeze water out. Dry by rolling between two clean towels, air dry, and avoid direct sunlight. Store in a clean, dry place. Fold neatly, wrap in muslin, and store with neem or cedar to prevent moths. With proper care, Pashmina lasts for generations.
Before You Receive Your Pashmina, Please Note
Authentic Pashmina is manually woven and embroidered by artisans. Irregularities in weave or embroidery reflect meticulous handwork and are not flaws but marks of authenticity. Slight variations in colour may appear due to screen differences. The actual shade may differ slightly.
