Product Description

Where bold design meets timeless tradition, this handcrafted orange and black Ikkat Pashmina stole celebrates the art of heritage weaving with a modern edge. The striking checkered pattern blends the vibrancy of orange with the sophistication of black, creating a statement piece that’s both elegant and versatile.
Expertly handwoven on traditional looms, it brings together the softness and warmth of pure Ladakhi Pashmina with the intricate geometry of the Ikkat technique. Whether draped casually over everyday wear or paired with formal ensembles, this stole adds a refined yet contemporary charm to any look.

About the Craft

Ikkat is one of the oldest and most intricate dyeing techniques known to humankind, cherished for its unique blurred motifs and captivating depth. Unlike ordinary weaving, Ikkat patterns are created by resist-dyeing the yarns before weaving. Each thread is carefully tied and dyed in calculated sections, revealing the design only once the yarns are aligned on the loom.
This process demands precision, patience, and artistry — even the slightest shift in placement can transform the entire pattern. The beauty of Ikkat lies in these subtle irregularities that make every piece truly one of a kind, reflecting the artisan’s mastery and individuality.

The making of Pashmina itself is a long and painstaking journey. It begins in Ladakh, where the delicate down fibre of the Changthangi goat is gathered, cleaned, and spun by hand. Each artisan spends nearly two months preparing enough yarn for one stole, spinning only a handful of fibre each day. The threads are then woven on wooden handlooms and finally handed over to specialists for dyeing or finishing. The result is an heirloom-quality stole that embodies skill, patience, and the timeless spirit of Kashmiri craftsmanship.

Pashmina Care

Always dry clean your pure Pashmina for the best results. If hand washing, use cold water and mild Pashmina or Cashmere shampoo. Avoid wringing or twisting; press gently to remove excess water. Lay flat between two towels, roll to absorb moisture, and air dry away from direct sunlight.
Store your Pashmina in a clean, dry place wrapped in muslin cloth with neem or cedar wood. When cared for properly, it will remain as soft, elegant, and radiant as the day it was made.
