About the Craft
Every pure Pashmina shawl tells a story of dedication and tradition. The solid shade is created using traditional hand-dyeing methods in small batches, ensuring depth, vibrancy, and authenticity. Unlike machine dyeing, this process requires careful handling, repeated rinsing, and slow drying to preserve the fabric’s softness and natural sheen.
The journey begins in Ladakh, where the fine undercoat of the Changthangi goat is collected, cleaned, and sorted. Women artisans hand spin the fibre, often taking months to prepare enough for one shawl. The spun yarn is then handwoven on wooden looms by master craftsmen, resulting in an airy, soft, and lightweight fabric. Finally, the piece may be dyed or finished by specialists, completing its transformation into a wearable heirloom.
Pashmina Care
Always dry clean your pure Pashmina for the safest care. If hand washing, use cold water and Pashmina/Cashmere shampoo. Do not wring or twist. Gently squeeze out water and dry by placing between two towels, rolling them together. Air dry flat, avoid hanging, and keep away from direct sunlight.
Store in a clean, dry place. Fold neatly, wrap in muslin, and store with neem or cedar to protect from moths. With proper care, your Pashmina will last for generations.
Before you receive your Pashmina, Please Note
Authentic Pashmina is handwoven and embroidered by artisans. Minor irregularities in weave or finish are not flaws but marks of authenticity, making your piece unique.
Slight colour variations may occur due to screen resolutions. While we strive for accurate images, the actual shade may differ slightly. We appreciate your understanding.
