Product Description
Drenched in the mellow glow of autumn sunlight, this handloom Eri Silk stole captures nature’s most graceful hues. The golden canvas is adorned with eco prints of fern fronds and three-lobed maple leaves, rendered in soft tones of ivory and sage. Each imprint mirrors nature’s calmness and serenity, symbolizing renewal and harmony.
Crafted using the sustainable bundle dyeing technique, where fallen flowers and leaves are naturally imprinted onto the fabric, this stole is a celebration of the meeting between nature’s beauty and the artisan’s dedication — an ode to timeless craftsmanship and conscious luxury.
What is Eri Silk?
Often called Ahimsa Silk (Ahimsa means non-violent) or Peace Silk, Eri Silk is India’s most ethical and skin friendly silk. Unlike traditional silk, it is spun from open-ended cocoons after the moth has naturally emerged, making it cruelty free and ideal for vegans.
The fabric is light, breathable, and feels gentle and nurturing against the skin. Known for its skin healing and medicinal properties, Eri Silk helps regulate temperature, absorbs moisture, and is often recommended for those with skin sensitivities or allergies.
At Pashmsutra, we use only pure handloom Eri Silk, ensuring that each piece is authentic, sustainable, cruelty free, and free from artificial or chemical dyes.
Process of Bundle Dyeing
The process of bundle dyeing begins with collecting seasonal flowers and leaves, respectfully sourced from temples after daily offerings. These are carefully arranged on handwoven Eri Silk stoles and scarves, then rolled into tight bundles and steamed, allowing the natural pigments to infuse the fibers.
No two pieces are ever identical. The colors, shapes, and imprints depend entirely on nature’s rhythm, turning each stole into a living artwork painted by flowers, rain, and sunlight. At Pashmsutra, we use only discarded or naturally fallen flora, honoring sustainability and ensuring nothing goes to waste.
Eri Silk Care
Your Eri Silk stole is a delicate creation and should be handled with care. For the first few washes, opt for dry cleaning to preserve the natural dyes. If washing at home, use cold water and a mild detergent. Do not soak for long hours or wring the fabric. Gently press to remove excess water and dry in shade. Avoid direct sunlight. Iron on a low or medium setting and store in a muslin or cotton bag.
Before You Receive Your Silk Stole
Your Eri Silk stole has been handcrafted on a traditional handloom. Small irregularities or variations in tone are marks of its handmade beauty and natural dyeing process.
Minor color differences may appear due to screen resolution. While we strive to present images as true to life as possible, the actual shade may vary slightly in person.
