This handpicked Kani Pashmina stole celebrates colour in motion with vibrance and elegance. Striking yellow, red, and blue stripes flow seamlessly across the body, leading into intricately woven Kani ends adorned with traditional Kashmiri motifs. The lively striped design is enriched by the depth of heritage craftsmanship on the palla, fusing cultural creativity with modern aesthetics. Warm yet featherlight, this stole is perfect for both traditional draping and contemporary styling. Owning it means carrying a piece of Kashmiri artistry, crafted with patience, skill, and sustainable practices.
About the Craft
Kani weaving is a traditional tapestry-style technique from Kashmir, renowned for its intricacy and cultural legacy. Used to create elaborate patterns on fine Pashmina fabric, it is celebrated worldwide for its artistry. The term "kani" refers to the small eyeless wooden sticks that replace the shuttle in weaving. Each kani carries a different coloured thread, which artisans interlace with extraordinary precision to form florals, paisleys, and Mughal-inspired gardens.
Weavers follow a coded design script called talim, which is read line by line like musical notation. This makes the craft not only highly labour-intensive but also intellectually demanding, requiring immense patience and mastery. Depending on the complexity of the motifs, a single Kani stole can take several months to more than a year to complete.
Pashmina Care
Always dry clean your pure Pashmina for the safest care. If hand washing, use cold water and Pashmina/Cashmere shampoo. Do not wring or twist; press water out gently. Roll between two clean towels to absorb moisture and air dry flat, away from sunlight.
Store your Pashmina in a clean, dry place. Fold neatly, wrap in a muslin cloth, and store with neem or cedar to protect from moths. With proper care, your Pashmina will last for generations.
Before you receive your Pashmina, Please Note:
Authentic Pashmina is woven and embroidered manually by artisans. Slight irregularities in weave or pattern are natural signs of handcraft, not flaws. These unique details make your piece truly one of a kind.
Slight variations in colour may appear due to different screen resolutions. While we strive to present images as true to life as possible, the actual shade may differ slightly on your device.
