Description

Minimalism speaks the loudest when it comes to the realm of Kashmiri luxury products. This calm aqua green handblock printed muffler is one such accessory - embellished with beautiful floral imprints - that honor restraint and purity. In the process of crafting this muffler, wooden blocks have been hand-carved, soaked in natural dyes, and precisely stamped to press each design onto the fabric. Slow, contemplative, and manual, the process guarantees that no two prints are ever same. This muffler is lightweight and stylish, making it ideal for everyday drapery with carefree elegance. An artisanal memento that carries on centuries-old block printing techniques, and a stylish layering piece for travel or nighttime strolls.

About the Craft
Dating back centuries, handblock printing is one of the oldest fabric decoration crafts in India. In this technique, artisans carve intricate designs onto wooden blocks, dip them in natural or metallic pigments, and then press them carefully onto the fabric. Each impression is done by hand, making the process slow, detailed, and entirely unique such that no two pieces are ever identical.
When artisans practice this on Pashmina, the craft becomes even more challenging, as the delicate weave of handwoven Pashmina demands precision and gentleness. Unlike machine prints, the slight irregularities in block impressions are a mark of authenticity and craftsmanship, celebrating the “handmade” soul of the textile
The art of Pashmina making involves a series of meticulous steps. It all starts in Ladakh where the down fibre of the changthangi goat is collected, cleaned, and sorted. The fibre is then hand spun by womenfolk of the valley - which is the most painstaking labour of love. To spin fibre for one Pashmina muffler, a single artisan takes atleast 1 month, with just a handful of fibre spun per day. Even this takes them 8-10 hours everyday. Spinning is followed by weaving, where men mount the delicate spun fibre onto wooden handlooms and create heavenly soft and lightweight Pashmina mufflers. These are later handed over to specialists for further embellishing like dyeing, embroidery, or prints

Pashmina Care
Always dry clean your pure Pashmina for the safest care. But if hand washing, use cold water and Pashmina/Cashmere shampoo. Do not wring or twist. Always squeeze the water out gently. Dry your Pashmina by placing it between two clean towels and rolling them together. Air dry, do not hang. Do not place it under direct sunlight for drying.
Store your Pashmina at a clean, dry place. To keep it safe from moths, fold it neatly, wrap it in a muslin cloth, and store it with neem or cedar. Pashmina will last for generations if handled with care.

Before you receive your Pashmina, Please Note:
Authentic Pashmina is woven and embroidered by artisans manually. There can be irregularities in weave or embroidery showing the meticulous manual work of artisans. Note that these are not flaws but marks of authenticity that make your piece truly one of a kind
