About the Craft
Every inch of this pure Pashmina shawl tells a story of devotion and heritage. The solid olive shade is achieved using traditional hand-dyeing techniques in small batches, ensuring depth, vibrancy, and authenticity. Unlike commercial processes, this method requires multiple rinses, careful handling, and hours of drying to preserve the natural sheen and softness of Pashmina.
The making of a Pashmina shawl begins in Ladakh, where the down fibre of the Changthangi goat is collected, cleaned, and sorted. Women artisans then hand spin the fibre – a painstaking task that can take months, with only a handful of fibre spun per day. The delicate yarn is later handwoven on wooden looms by master craftsmen to create an airy, featherlight shawl. Each piece may then be dyed, embroidered, or finished by specialists, completing a journey of skill, patience, and artistry.
Pashmina Care
Always dry clean your pure Pashmina for the safest care. If hand washing, use cold water and Pashmina/Cashmere shampoo. Do not wring or twist. Gently squeeze the water out and dry by placing it between two towels, rolling them together. Air dry flat, never hang, and avoid direct sunlight.
Store in a clean, dry place. Fold neatly, wrap in muslin, and store with neem or cedar for protection against moths. With proper care, your Pashmina will last for generations.
Before you receive your Pashmina, Please Note
Authentic Pashmina is woven and embroidered manually by artisans. Minor irregularities in weave or finish are not flaws but signs of authenticity, making your piece unique.
Slight variations in colour may occur due to screen resolutions. While we strive for accurate images, the actual shade may differ slightly. We appreciate your understanding.
