Description

This handwoven black Pashmina muffler embodies timeless elegance, enriched by exquisite Sozni embroidery. Feather-light yet luxuriously warm, it reflects the finest qualities of Ladakhi Pashmina. The delicate mushroom motifs, hand-stitched by Kashmiri artisans, add a touch of enchantment, elevating the deep black canvas with refined detail. More than just an accessory, this muffler is a testament to sustainability, artistry, and generations of skill.

About the Craft

Sozni embroidery is one of Kashmir’s most intricate needlework traditions, known for fine floral, abstract, and geometric motifs. Each stitch is placed with precision using fine needles and threads, often taking months or even years to complete a piece. For instance, embroidering just a one-inch border can take up to four months. The process begins with carefully stamped patterns, which artisans then trace with harmonious colour combinations.

The making of Pashmina itself begins in Ladakh, where the down fibre of the Changthangi goat is gathered, cleaned, and hand-spun by women artisans—a labour of patience that can take a month for a single muffler. The yarn is then woven on traditional wooden looms before reaching master embroiderers for embellishment.

Pashmina Care

Always dry clean your Pashmina. If hand washing, use cold water and a Pashmina/Cashmere shampoo. Do not wring or twist; gently press out excess water. Roll in clean towels and air dry flat, away from sunlight.

Store folded in a muslin cloth with neem or cedar to protect from moths. With proper care, your Pashmina will last for generations.

Before you receive your Pashmina, Please Note:

Each Pashmina is entirely handcrafted. Subtle irregularities in weave or embroidery are marks of authenticity, not flaws. Colour may vary slightly depending on screen resolution, though every effort is made to capture the true shade.
