Product Description

Soft as the tranquil rivers flowing through Kashmir, this blue ombré Pashmina shawl embodies serenity and elegance. Hand spun and handwoven from the finest Ladakhi Pashmina, its gradient transitions gracefully from a soft pastel blue into a deeper, bolder hue, a visual symphony of calm and depth.
Lightweight yet luxuriously warm, this handcrafted shawl drapes effortlessly, offering timeless sophistication. Whether paired with ethnic attire or modern silhouettes, it’s an understated statement of refinement and artistry, a true celebration of nature’s beauty woven by skilled hands.

About the Craft

Ombre dyeing on Pashmina is an intricate and artistic process performed entirely by hand. Artisans use controlled hand-dipping and immersion techniques to create a smooth gradient where one shade flows seamlessly into another. This delicate process ensures the absence of harsh lines, giving the fabric a soft, natural transition of colour.
Unlike machine dyeing, ombré work relies purely on the artisan’s trained eyes and hands to balance depth, tone, and texture. The softness of Pashmina absorbs colour beautifully, transforming each shawl into a wearable piece of art with no two pieces ever identical.

The journey of every Pashmina begins in Ladakh, where the fine down fibre of the Changthangi goat is collected, cleaned, and hand spun by women artisans. It takes nearly two months of daily spinning to prepare enough yarn for one shawl. The yarn is then woven by men on traditional wooden looms, producing an incredibly soft, feather-light fabric. Specialists finally finish the piece through hand-dyeing or embroidery, creating a masterpiece that reflects centuries of tradition and devotion.

Pashmina Care

Always dry clean your pure Pashmina for best results. If hand washing, use cold water and Pashmina or Cashmere shampoo. Do not wring or twist; press gently to remove excess water. Lay flat between two towels, roll to absorb moisture, and air dry away from direct sunlight.
Store your Pashmina in a clean, dry place wrapped in muslin cloth with neem or cedar wood. With care and gentle handling, your Pashmina will remain a timeless companion for generations.

Before You Receive Your Pashmina

Each Pashmsutra piece is made entirely by hand. Subtle irregularities in weave or dye are a testament to human craftsmanship, not flaws but signs of authenticity.
Minor colour variations may occur due to screen differences. While we strive to represent every shade accurately, actual tones may differ slightly in person.

G.I. Certified Handspun Pashmina: Why It Is More Expensive than Regular Pure Pashmina

Pashmina has for long been cherished and celebrated as the pinnacle of luxury. It is a fabric, so fine, warm and timeless that even the highest of royalty adorned it for centuries. But among all the forms nature blesses our wardrobes with, Handspun Pashmina stands apart as the purest, most authentic. Before modern machinery took over, the threads were spun exclusively with bare hands, slowly, delicately, with a deep emotional connection between the artisans and the fibre. Today, just a small percentage of artisans follow this ancient method, making handspun pieces incredibly rare and precious. Yet there are a few dealers of handspun shawls, like Pashmsutra, which sells 100% pure, hand spun shawls online......
