Perfect as a cozy wrap for cool evenings or as an elegant accent draped over your bed or sofa, this throw combines luxury with function. Light yet insulating, it offers the perfect balance between everyday practicality and artisanal finesse a true reflection of refined craftsmanship.
About the Craft
The journey of each Pashmina begins in Ladakh, where the down fibre of the Changthangi goat is delicately collected, cleaned, and sorted by hand. Women artisans of Kashmir then handspin the fibre into fine yarn using traditional wooden yinders, a process that can take up to a month for a single piece. Their patient artistry ensures the fibre retains its natural softness and strength.
Once spun, skilled weavers use wooden handlooms to transform the yarn into fabric that is both light and luxuriously warm. Each throw then passes through specialists for finishing touches like dyeing or embroidery. The result is an authentic piece of living heritage a harmony of nature, craftsmanship, and comfort.
Pashmina Care
Always dry clean your pure Pashmina for the safest care. If hand washing, use cold water and mild Pashmina or Cashmere shampoo. Do not wring or twist; gently press to remove excess water. Lay flat between two towels, roll to absorb moisture, and air dry away from sunlight.
Store your Pashmina in a clean, dry place wrapped in muslin cloth with neem or cedar wood. With proper care, it will remain soft, lustrous, and beautiful for generations.
Before You Receive Your Pashmina
Each Pashmsutra throw is made entirely by hand, making every piece unique. Slight irregularities in weave or tone are not flaws but marks of authenticity that highlight its artisanal nature.
Minor colour variations may occur due to screen settings. While every effort is made to display shades accurately, the actual tone may vary slightly in person.
G.I. Certified Handspun Pashmina: Why It Is More Expensive than Regular Pure Pashmina
Pashmina has for long been cherished and celebrated as the pinnacle of luxury. It is a fabric, so fine, warm and timeless that even the highest of royalty adorned it for centuries. But among all the forms nature blesses our wardrobes with, Handspun Pashmina stands apart as the purest, most authentic. Before modern machinery took over, the threads were spun exclusively with bare hands, slowly, delicately, with a deep emotional connection between the artisans and the fibre. Today, just a small percentage of artisans follow this ancient method, making handspun pieces incredibly rare and precious. Yet there are a few dealers of handspun shawls, like Pashmsutra, which sells 100% pure, hand spun shawls online......
