Description

This multicoloured Pashmina stole features a striking orange and black check ikat pattern, handwoven with precision and care. Bold in design yet classic in appeal, it is a masterpiece of traditional artistry and manual labour. Feather-light and warm, it drapes effortlessly across seasons, adding refinement whether paired with modern ensembles or layered over ethnic attire.

About the Craft

Ikat is among the oldest and most intricate dyeing traditions, celebrated for its soft, blurred motifs. Unlike regular weaving, the yarns are resist-dyed before being set on the loom. Each thread is carefully bound and dyed in precise segments, with patterns only emerging once woven. This process demands mathematical precision, artistic vision, and patience. The outcome is fabric where beauty lies in the soulful imperfections of the artisan’s hand.

The journey of Pashmina begins in Ladakh, where the down fibre of the Changthangi goat is collected, cleaned, and sorted. Women hand-spin this fibre over months, producing only small amounts each day. Men then weave the delicate yarn on wooden handlooms, creating luxuriously soft, lightweight stoles. These are later finished with dyeing, embroidery, or prints, depending on the design.

Pashmina Care

Always dry clean your pure Pashmina for the safest care. If hand washing, use cold water and Pashmina/Cashmere shampoo. Do not wring or twist; gently press out water. Roll in clean towels to remove excess moisture and air dry flat, away from direct sunlight.

Store neatly folded in a muslin cloth with neem or cedar for moth protection. With proper care, your Pashmina will remain an heirloom for generations.

Before you receive your Pashmina, Please Note:

Each Pashmina is entirely handcrafted. Variations in weave or embroidery are not flaws but signs of authenticity, showcasing the artisan’s work. Colour may vary slightly due to screen resolutions. While we strive for accuracy in images, shades may appear a little different on your device.
